##################### TIP: ##############################################
Did you know, you can replace the tilde "~" equivalently by "%7e" or "%7E".
I found this info here:
http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/tilde.html
or, if you prefer, here:
http://www.cs.tut.fi/%7Ejkorpela/tilde.html
Apparently, people find tilde less familiar than percent, and there can be
some networking issues, but it's still not ideal even with the "%" form.

leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being
attacked and then denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and
exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

Loraine Daly arrived at church armed with her faith. But that faith proved
to be misplaced when the spirit of the Lord entered her body and she hit
the floor. And there was nobody there to save her. Now Ms Daly, 40, is
suing the Assemblies of God-affiliated Waterloo church, the Sydney
Christian Life Centre, arguing that the church breached its duty of care
that Sunday

##################### KURDS: ############################################
We all know the Turkish government has pursued a military campaign against
the Kurdish people living within its borders, but it seems that they are
now worried that Saddam is letting HIS Kurds lose the run of themselves:
http://www.voanews.com/article.cfm?objectID=9C95AF74-A110-491A-B3A47D1933EE761D
"Speaking at a joint news conference in Ankara with Bulgaria's prime
minister, Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Prime Minister Ecevit said that
Turkey would take all necessary measures if the Iraqi Kurds move toward
loosening their ties with the central government in Baghdad. ...
Turkish leaders have repeatedly warned that Turkey will intervene
militarily if need be, in order to block any moves by Iraq's Kurds
toward independence."
Also reported in The Guardian, though with a different emphasis and
downplaying of Turkey's posturing:

Christian Science Monitor goes 50-50 on the emphasis, though some of the
quotes have an odd sound to them:
"Turkey knows very well that northern Iraq is a swamp ... where any
country can easily drown."

##################### NUMBER: ###########################################
Natural numbers as exponents of operations A formalization of
Wittgenstein’s definition
http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/mathem/numexp.html
ABSTRACT: Wittgenstein’s definition of natural numbers as “exponents of
operations” is investigated and formalized. The definition gives
different systems of “numbers”, which are essentially isomorphic,
however. Mathematically this is rather simple and uninteresting; an
empty formalization, so to say. But philosophically this might throw
some light on the concept of number. Although the basic form of a
numeral in human languages is usually a cardinal number, numerals like
twice or Latin bis that answer the question “how many times?” might
reflect better the essence of a number as an idea in human mind.
